1970s Origins

From Trading to Global Development

KEP International Trade and Representation, Inc. began its journey in the 1920s when Muzaffer Halim supplied military material to the efforts of establishing a new republic. Over a century, it evolved into a comprehensive representation and project development firm under its current leadership and third generation co-founder Halim Neyzi.

Through strategic adaptation and continuous innovation, KEP has built extensive expertise across the entire project lifecycle - from initial feasibility studies to final commissioning, in cooperation with its international partners.

Our History

A century-long journey from the Ottoman Empire to modern Turkey

  1. 1919

    The War of Independence

    Atatürk's army was made up of remnants of Ottoman forces - veterans of Libya (1911), the Balkans (1912), and Gallipoli.

    In 1918, the Ottoman "Shadow Government" surrendered, with Istanbul under Allied occupation.

  2. 1920

    A Risky Journey

    Muzaffer Halim traveled from Istanbul to Ankara with a false passport on a dangerous 15-day journey: boat to İnebolu → horse-cart to Ankara.

    Smuggled weapons from occupied stockpiles to Atatürk's Liberation Army, helping establish the Republic of Turkey within its present-day borders.

  3. 1935

    The Neyzi Name

    As part of westernization reforms, "Neyzi" became the family surname.

    Muzaffer Halim Neyzi continued his business activities in Ankara, Istanbul, and İzmir.

  4. 1942

    The Second Generation

    Ahmet Halim Neyzi (son of Muzaffer Halim) earned a Master's in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University, USA.

    Began career with Ralph M. Parsons Co., building Turkey's first refinery in Batman.

  5. 1957

    Move to France

    Ahmet Halim Neyzi continued with Ralph M. Parsons Co., establishing Parsons' European HQ in Paris, later expanding to London and Frankfurt.

    Directed major projects: refineries, copper smelters, pipelines, NATO facilities, and U.S. Armed Forces projects.

  6. 1967

    Return to Turkey

    Ahmet Halim Neyzi returned to Turkey and founded KEP Ticaret, continuing his father's company legacy.

    • Expanded the Izmit refinery

    • Built Butadiene units at Petkim Yarımca

    • Built the Izmir refinery

  7. 1978-1982

    The Third Generation

    Halim Neyzi (son of Ahmet Halim) graduated from University of Akron, USA in Mechanical Engineering (1978). Early career with Badger, Inc. (now Technip).

    Returned to Turkey (1982) to join the family business. KEP Ticaret becomes KEP International Trade and Representation Inc.

    Expanded into marine electronics, defense, power generation and petrochemicals.

  8. 1920-1935

    Early International Partnerships

    Muzaffer Halim Neyzi represented major international companies:

With over 50 years of experience in the energy, refinery and petrochemical sectors, Halim Neyzi has been a driving force behind KEP's evolution from a regional representation company to an internationally recognized project development firm. His deep understanding of global energy markets and extensive network of industry relationships have been instrumental in KEP's continued success.

As co-founder and managing director, Mr. Neyzi has demonstrated exceptional ability to identify emerging opportunities and adapt to changing market dynamics. His leadership has guided KEP through multiple industry transformations, from traditional energy trading to comprehensive project development services, and most recently, the integration of renewable energy and sustainable infrastructure solutions.
